Free workshop: Writing Resumes Recruiters Want to Read 5/6

May 3, 2015

May 6, 2015
9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Beltway Job Search Partners presents a FREE workshop

Writing Resumes Recruiters Want to Read

Recruiters get thousands of resumes. Typically a recruiter spends about 3 seconds per resume.

Unless your resume is written so that it is easy for a recruiter to read, it could easily be overlooked.

This session will show you what an easy to read resume looks like to increase the likelihood of your resume getting read thoroughly by recruiters.

We will also spend some time looking at each person’s resume and giving some specific advice so that recruiters will be more likely to read your resume.

Please bring multiple copies of your resume with you.

If you bring your resume on a flash drive, we can put it on the computer and give more detailed comments.

Free Resume Workshop 5/5

May 3, 2015

May 5, 2015
6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Career Network Ministry at McLean Bible Church presents a FREE

Resume Workshop

with Pascale Haspil, vp at Lee Hecht Harrison

It’s a fact that 70% of all jobs are acquired through networking. While the importance of a resume is overrated, it is still part of the etiquette of applying for a job and thus should be well written.

In this one hour workshop we will discuss:

-Brand strategy – (i.e. How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? Who is today’s hiring manager?)

-Active verbs & alternative sentence openers – (i.e. What voice are you using to describe your skills. Strategic vs. tactical.)

-Quantifying & qualifying experience – (i.e. How do you turn bullet points into accomplishment statements.)

-Resume design & structure – (i.e. How long and how far back should you go. Chronological vs.functional.)

This session will be interactive and will focus on addressing frequently asked resume questions.

Participants are encouraged to bring their resumes for reference.

Rev Up Your Resume

with Rebecca Page

Your resume is the most essential marketing document for your job search. Yes, as a job seeker, you’re not a marketer and sales person. YOU are your product.

Recruiters score professionally written resumes 60% higher and agree they are 40% more organized and readable. Let’s Rev Up Your Resume, so you get those interviews.

We’ll review:

-Your Value Proposition: What makes you stand out from the pack? How to keep the hiring manager’s attention with dynamic, focused achievement statements.

-Relevant Experience: Not every job or skill applies to the new career you’re seeking.

-Design and Format: Specific structures are better than others.

-Situational Strategies: Do you have a gap between jobs? Are you switching professions? Are you just starting your career? These all require unique strategies.

This session will be interactive, so please bring your resume. Some time will be spent for 1-on-1 resume review.
